Beginners' Course

Beginners' course is targeted for riders over 8 years of age. Younger riders than that are advised to participate mini lessons. During beginners' course you will gain knowledge of horse handling, riding, and learn how to tack a horse. Course is typically 14 hours and includes also riding theory.

In beginners' course you'll manage with rubber boots or similar boots with heel, comfortable trousers and gloves. Nuuksio Riding Centre will provide riding hat and whip, if needed. We recommend the usage of back protector. In riding centre there are 3 adult-sized back protectors that can be borrowed.

• leading, tightening girth, mounting a horse, stirrup adjustment
• correct seat and rein
• stopping, rising a walk and turning
• the most common routes in school
• sitting trot and rising trot
• correct diagonal and changing diagonal
• reversing
• strike off into canter
• riding on a trail if possible

In beginners' course there are helpers during the first lessons.
